Bordering Town Creek and Green Ridge State Forest on one side, Salinger Marsh on the other, and overlooking a 3 acre pond that is teeming with wildlife allows for endless adventures. Take a walk into Green Ridge on an easily accessible, seldom traveled road. Enjoy the sound of running water next to the creek and relax for an afternoon, or watch the deer, geese, ducks, and beavers (just to name a few!) around the pond and fields. Maybe your interest is birdwatching and catching a glimpse of the Meadowlarks during the day, American Woodcocks peenting, the sploosh of the common mergansers landing for the evening, or hearing the surrounding calls of the whip-poor-wills. Or maybe you prefer plants...Virginia Bluebells and spring ephemerals. Whatever your interest in nature, there is plenty to see and do. Try your luck fishing in the 3 -acre pond; pond is stocked with bass, blue gill and catfish. Maryland fishing license required for creek fishing. Experience the deafening sound of the spring peepers and take a flashlight frog walk around the pond at night.  We feel it's necessary to say that while our property and surroundings offer tranquil, private areas and are mostly surrounded by nature, we are a working farm and we do have neighbors within sight--we are not completely isolated. As such, others enjoy their own property and we cannot guarantee that there may not be noise pollution, farm equipment running, or animals, though it is typically very quiet and peaceful.

Frequent and Consistent Birds of Interest: Whip-poor-wills, American Woodcocks, Eastern Meadowlarks, Yellow-Billed Cuckoos, Northern Parula Warblers, Yellow Warblers, Baltimore and Orchard Orioles, Yellow Warblers, Eastern Bluebirds, Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds, Barn and Tree Swallows, Kingfishers, Great-Blue Herons, Green Herons, Canada Geese, Common Mergansers, Wood Ducks, and a variety of woodpeckers are common and fairly consistent in their appropriate seasons. Of course we also have the more common backyard and song birds at our feeders and around their typical spots as well.

Bald Eagles, Osprey, and various hawks aren't uncommon but not reliably visible. Various owls are sporadic.

The pond attracts a wide range of migrating waterfowl in both spring and fall one never knows what might be seen by the pond (one of the most exciting and unusual was a flock of trumpeter swans).

Other wildlife: Deer, turkeys, turtles, frogs (spring peepers, Upland Chorus frogs, and Wood frogs), salamanders/newts, fish, and our resident beavers are common and usually reliably visible (or audible) during their seasons. Black bears, red and gray foxes, raccoons, opossums, skunks, and coyotes are much less so, but still around.
